Islamabad: Pakistani leaders often compare their country to India. The latest comparison was made by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
While addressing a public event on Saturday, February 22, Shehbaz Sharif said, ‘If we do not surpass India, change my name.’ However, Shehbaz Sharif’s challenge was not about war, but about progress. He stated that if Pakistan does not advance ahead of India in terms of development, then ‘my name is not Shehbaz Sharif.’

Shehbaz made this remark while addressing a large crowd in Dera Ghazi Khan. During this time, he launched several developmental projects and vowed to lead Pakistan out of its current challenges and make it a great nation.
Shehbaz was quite aggressive while addressing the crowd. He swore, saying, “If we do not leave India behind, then my name is not Shehbaz Sharif. We will make Pakistan a great nation and surpass India.”
According to Pakistani media reports, Prime Minister Sharif confidently declared that Pakistan’s future is destined for greatness and promised to lead the country towards prosperity.
Shehbaz further stated that under his leadership, Pakistan will focus on building a self-reliant economy instead of relying on loans. He also pointed to the recent decrease in inflation in the country and claimed that when his government took office, inflation was at 40 percent, which has now reduced to just 2 percent. Meanwhile, Sharif’s comments have garnered significant attention on social media in both Pakistan and India. Many users on the social media platform X have found his statement amusing, while several users have suggested new names for Shehbaz Sharif.
Earlier this month, Shehbaz Sharif expressed a desire for peaceful dialogue with India and stated that Pakistan is willing to resolve all issues, including the contentious Kashmir dispute, through negotiations. He made these comments during the special session of the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) Assembly on the occasion of “Kashmir Solidarity Day” in Muzaffarabad.
