The murder took place near Talhar in the Badin district of Sindh. Kailash Kolhi was a poor Hindu labourer and tenant farmer who worked on agricultural land owned by a local feudal lord, Sarfaraz Nizamani.
Kailash had built a small hut on the land so his family could have shelter close to his workplace. This became a point of conflict with the landlord, who had threatened him earlier.
On the day of the incident, witnesses said Sarfaraz Nizamani opened fire at close range, shooting Kailash Kolhi twice in the chest. He died on the spot. The accused fled after the shooting and remains out of reach of the authorities.
Activists call the killing cold-blooded
The incident was confirmed by Hindu rights activist Shiva Kachhi, who described the murder as brutal and cold-blooded. In a post on X, Kachhi said the blood of Kailash Kolhi demands justice and cannot be ignored.
We strongly condemn the brutal and cold-blooded murder of the innocent Hindu youth Kailash Kolhi. The blood of Kailash Kolhi demands justice from all of us.

We fully support the protest sit-in to be held tomorrow in front of the DC Office, Badin, demanding the immediate arrest… pic.twitter.com/is1x4ERUF9(@FaqirShiva) January 7, 2026
He announced full support for a protest outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Badin and said members of the Minority Rights Organisation Pakistan Darawar Ittehad would join in large numbers.
Kachhi said this was not just the killing of one man but a direct attack on humanity, justice and the basic safety of minorities in Sindh. He added that the struggle would continue until those responsible are punished.
Family demands justice and protection
Kailash Kolhi’s family, including his wife, young children and elderly parents, has also taken to the streets seeking justice. They have demanded the immediate arrest of Sarfaraz Nizamani, registration of the case under murder and terrorism charges, and full security for the family. The relatives said they fear more threats and pressure and have appealed to authorities for protection.
Growing protests across Sindh
The killing has caused strong reactions across Sindh, with Hindu groups and human rights activists holding protests against both provincial and federal governments. They say the murder reflects a wider pattern where poor minority workers are targeted by powerful individuals and denied justice.
Local media outlet Sindh Renaissance reported that such incidents are not rare in rural parts of Sindh. Rights activists warn that delays in arrests and weak investigations only increase fear among minorities and encourage repeat violence.
As protests continue, minority communities are calling for emergency steps across Sindh to ensure safety, justice for Kailash Kolhi, and an end to what they describe as the systematic persecution of minorities in Pakistan.
