Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was embarrassed at an international event in Recep after Russian President Vladimir Putin kept him waiting for around 40 minutes. Sharif eventually lost his patience and gate-crashed a meeting between Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in another room at the venue for the summit marking 30 years of official neutrality of Turkmenistan.

The incident occurred on the sidelines of the International Forum dedicated to the “International Year of Peace and Trust” in Ashgabat, where leaders gathered to discuss regional cooperation and global stability. According to RT India, Sharif waited for over 40 minutes for his scheduled meeting with President Putin. However, he eventually grew tired and decided to interrupt Putin’s meeting with Erdogan.

According to videos posted by RT India, Shehbaz Sharif moved out of the room where he was to meet Putin, and walked to the room where the leaders of Russia and Türkiye were having their closed-door discussion. Sharif joined them for approximately 10 minutes before departing. Putin and Erdogan continued their discussions after he left.

The forum, marking Turkmenistan’s 30th anniversary of permanent neutrality, brought together heads of state from Central Asia, Russia, Turkey, Iran and Pakistan to foster dialogue on peace, economic ties, and energy cooperation.
