Trishul: After Operation Sindoor against Pakistan, India practised Trishul, a tri-service military exercise, on Thursday. It will be a 12-day activity that takes place in the border areas of Pakistan. This marks India’s first military exercise in almost six months, ever since Operation Sindoor took place. Trishul will comprise several forces, tanks, and aircraft to alert Pakistan about the readiness of the Indian armed forces.

Where is Trishul active?

The tri-military exercise, Trishul, will remain active across the border regions of Gujarat and Pakistan. However, the main focus may remain on the Kutch region.

What are the officials saying?

The Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, warned Pakistan against its efforts to illegally get inside India’s side of Sir Creek. On the border between India and Pakistan, it is a 96 km tidal estuary located in the Indus River Delta’s uninhabited marshes. The eastern region belongs to India, and the western part belongs to Pakistan. Rajnath Singh mentioned that if Pakistan makes any effort to claim the eastern part of Sir Creek, which belongs to India, it will get a powerful response that will transform ‘history and geography’.

Pakistan’s attempts

The Navy Chief Admiral of Pakistan, Naveed Ashraf, carried out unanticipated visits to Sir Creek’s forward posts last week and stated to protect ‘every inch of our maritime borders from Sir Creek to Jiwani’.

What will be involved in Trishul?

The tri-service military exercise will include special forces, warships, missile batteries, and battle tanks. In addition, it will comprise aircraft like the Rafale and Sukhoi Su-30 to evaluate the alertness of the Indian armed forces. The armed forces have dispatched T-90 battle tanks, missile units of BrahMos, the Prachand attack helicopter, Sea Guardian, Heron drones, and the Akash missile defence system.

This prompted Pakistan to shut its airspace in various sectors of Islamabad. Pakistan on Saturday gave a notice to airmen to restrict access to some air routes in central and southern regions for two days.
