New Delhi: In a significant development for the Indian Armed Forces after Operation Sindoor, the Indian Navy is set to boost its strength with two new warships, Udaygiri and Himgiri, both capable of firing BrahMos missiles. With the induction of the Udaygiri and Himgiri warships, the Indian Navy now has 14 guided missile stealth frigates, each carrying 8 vertical launch BrahMos missile launchers, giving the ability to fire up to 300 missiles simultaneously.

How will Indian submarines fire 300 BrahMos missiles in one go?

The Talwar class warships, inducted in 2003, currently have six ships in service. Four of these are already equipped with BrahMos, while work is underway on the remaining two. Under the 2016 India-Russia agreement, four new Talwar class warships are being built. Of these, Tushil and Tamal built in Russia have been inducted, while the other two will soon join the Navy.
