Every state has its own identity.
New Delhi: India is a federal union comprising 28 states and 8 union territories after the bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
Before the reorganization of Jammu and Kashmir, India had 29 states. Following the reorganization, Jammu and Kashmir became a Union Territory, and Ladakh was created as a separate Union Territory, resulting in 28 states and 8 Union Territories.
Every state has its own identity, culture, traditions, customs, festivals, and language.
India is not much known for its education reach and literacy rate. English is also limited to a few people who form a small percentage.
But, there is one state where almost everyone speaks English. The state is in the north eastern part of India and has English as an official language along with the regional languages.
The state is Nagaland.
Apart from Nagaland, the north eastern state of Arunachal Pradesh has English as an official language, alongside the regional languages.
While English is not the sole language of any state, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland have English as an official language, along with their respective regional languages. Several other states also have English as an additional official language, including Kerala, Mizoram, Tamil Nadu, and others.
English plays a significant role in India as a language of communication, education, and government, especially in urban areas and among the educated.
While English proficiency varies across states, regions like South India and the Northeast are known for having a higher percentage of English speakers.
