The Union Cabinet, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday green light two railway projects that focusses on reducing congestion on the railway route.
Indian Railways, one of the largest rail networks in the world, serves millions of people daily. Due to the large population, there is always a rush and a shortage of tickets. But now, you may no longer have to face these problems during rail travel. The Union Cabinet recently gave the green light to three rail projects, which include the construction of the Zirakpur bypass, doubling of the Tirupati–Pakala–Katpadi single railway line, and modernization of water management under the agricultural irrigation scheme.
Less Crowd In Trains
The Union Cabinet, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday greenlit two railway projects that focus on reducing congestion on the railway route.
Giving details, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the Union Cabinet approved the construction of 19.2 km long Zirakpur bypass in Punjab and Haryana. The total cost of the ‘Hybrid Annuity’ model project will be Rs 1,878.31 crore.
The Cabinet also greenlights the doubling of 104 km-long Tirupati-Pakala-Katpadi rail section in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. The of the project is Rs 1,332 crore.
Cabinet Approves Three Rail Projects
The Cabinet has greenlit the construction of a six-lane, 19.2-kms Zirakpur bypass in Punjab and Haryana. This Rs 1,878.31 crore project aligns with the Pradhan Mantri Gati Shakti National Master Plan, focusing on improving transportation infrastructure. This bypass will connect NH-7 (Zirakpur-Patiala) to NH-5 (Zirakpur-Parwanoo), bypassing congested areas of Zirakpur and Panchkula.
It will directly link Himachal Pradesh and ease traffic congestion in cities like Patiala, Delhi, and Mohali Aerocity by diverting traffic from these areas.
