Navi Mumbai: On the occasion of World Water Day, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) organized mass water pledge events across the city to promote water conservation and responsible usage. Key locations such as Morbe Dam, Bhokarpada Water Treatment Plant, water reservoirs, and pumping stations saw active participation from municipal officials, engineers, staff, and local residents.
World Water Day, initiated by the United Nations in 1993, aims to raise awareness about sustainable water management. This year’s theme, “Glacier Conservation,” underscores the importance of preserving water resources.

“The initiative, led by Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, encouraged individuals to pledge responsible water use, prevent wastage, and support the ‘Catch the Rain’ initiative. Additional City Engineer Arvind Shinde and other officials participated in the event, highlighting the city’s commitment to water conservation,” a spokesperson from NMMC said.

Despite Navi Mumbai’s self-sufficient water supply from Morbe Dam, the NMMC is urging residents to use water judiciously. To reinforce this message, banners, standees, and hoardings have been placed across the city to spread awareness about water conservation.
