New Delhi: Nidhi Tewari has been appointed as the private secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer Nidhi Tiwari has been appointed as PM Modi’s private secretary, according to an official order issued by the government. According to the memorandum issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on March 29, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved Tewari’s appointment with immediate effect.
IFS Nidhi Tewari has served in the Prime Minister’s Office for over three years, before becoming the Private Secretary to Prime Minister Modi.
The IFS officer’s official appointment read, “The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Ms. Nidhi Tewari, IFS(2014) currently serving as Deputy Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office as Private Secretary to the Prime Minister, in the Level 12 of the pay matrix with immediate effect, on co-terminus basis or until further orders, whichever is earlier.”
Before Nidhi Tewari, PM Modi has had two Private Secretaries, namely, Hardik Satishchandra Shah and Vivek Kumar.
