Nissan has introduced the latest generation of the Leaf, now reimagined as a sleek crossover. Moving away from its hatchback roots, the new design features a more aerodynamic profile with a sculpted hood, high shoulder line, and prominent rear haunch.

At the front, it sports slim, boomerang-shaped LED headlights with integrated DRLs, a closed grille, and a bold bumper with a central air vent. Built on the CMF-EV platform, shared with the Ariya, the Leaf rides on stylish 19-inch wheels. Black cladding around the wheel arches and lower doors adds a rugged touch, while the charging port is positioned on the front fender for easy access. Enhancing its modern appeal, it gets flush front door handles and C-pillar-mounted rear handles for a seamless look.

The new Nissan Leaf for North America will be the brand’s first EV to feature a built-in NACS charging port, allowing seamless access to Tesla Superchargers. Along with this upgrade, the redesigned model will introduce a compact 3-in-1 EV powertrain, designed to improve efficiency and maximize interior space. These advancements are expected to enhance the Leaf’s driving range over its predecessor. While key specifications are yet to be revealed, Nissan plans to share more details about the updated Leaf later this year.

Nissan has outlined its strategy to expand its lineup in India with two new models, recently previewed in Yokohama. The first is a compact MPV set to arrive by the end of this year, while the second is a compact SUV expected to launch by the 2026 financial year. Both vehicles will be manufactured at Nissan’s Chennai facility, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to the Indian market.

Nissan has yet to reveal the mechanical specifications of its upcoming MPV, but it is expected to share its platform with the Renault Triber. If it follows the same powertrain setup, the MPV could feature a 1-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 71bhp and 96Nm of torque, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT.
