A British-Indian tourist who visited Indian on a three-year tour uploaded a post on social media sharing his experience about the country. In his spoke about things that didn’t let him fall in love with India. He wrote that he doesn’t regret his India trip, but doesn’t plan to visit again either.

In his post, the traveller made strong remarks about India, one of which infuriated internet users when he called the country a “Dump”. “India is a dump, and Indians objectively treat it like a dump”, read his words on Reddit.
He took a dig at the condition and management of heritage sites, infrastructure and accommodation facilities while recounting his visit to India.
“Hard truth to India no Indian wants to hear”
Informing netizens the period of his visit was during the peak of COVID-19 pandemic, he wrote, “Heading out there at the peak of Covid, driven by wanderlust; I’ve just finished up on my three year adventure around India. As much as Indians would love to be splashed in praise, there is a hard truth to India which no Indian wants to hear…”

At first, he pointed fingers at the infrastructure of the country and wrote, “The roads suck, every other corner is riddled in filth”. Later, he reflected on the heritage sites in India and claimed there are “Completely neglected” due to the graffiti, yellow spit and rotting food soiling the architecture. He also held concerns with the pricing of hotels and the standard they offered.
What made him visit India?
The tourist said that his journey to India was driven by wanderlust, but ended with a feeling to not go back to the country despite spending three years there. “As a British Indian myself, I really wanted to love India – I can’t”, he wrote.

As his striking negative remarks about India went viral on the internet and started giving other potential tourists a not-so-good picture of India, netizens reacted on the post asking why the Brit-Indian traveller stuck around for years together if he didn’t like the place. They questioned him on why he travelled around India despite complaining so much, instead of rerouting to Britain.
“Why spend three years there then, seems excessive?”, people asked.
“I had incredibly positive experiences in India. The trash and pollution is true for most Indian states, but the northeastern states and some Himalayan states are a lot cleaner with lots of pristine rivers and forests”, said a 19-year-old German man who visited India recently.
“I spent a good five months in Goa before making the decision to go on a long term trip…I uprooted myself and my cat from the UK and started out fresh. Moving back to the UK was a behemoth of a task”, the traveller replied.
