Mumbai: A tragic road accident claimed the life of Pranay Bodke (29), a media manager for the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), while two others were critically injured. The deceased, a resident of Kalachowki, was traveling with his friends to buy flowers for Holi when their bike was hit by a speeding electric bus of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC).

The incident occurred at 2:28 AM on Thursday near Parel T.T. Junction. Six youths, all residents of Ekdyarshan Society, Kalachowki, were riding on two motorcycles toward Dadar Flower Market. As they were moving toward Elphinstone Bridge via Jagannath Bhatankar Road, a speeding electric bus coming from the opposite direction collided head-on with one of their motorcycles.

The collision resulted in severe injuries to Pranay Bodke (29), Durvesh Gorde (25), and Karan Shinde (29). Their motorcycle was completely damaged, and they were thrown onto the road. Their companions sought help from passersby and alerted the police.

Upon receiving the alert, police arrived at the scene and rushed the victims to EM Hospital. Pranay Bodke was declared dead at 2:53 AM, while Durvesh and Karan remain in critical condition in the ICU due to severe head injuries.

The police have detained the bus driver, Matin Shaikh, and an investigation is ongoing.

Police sources said Pranay Bodke was an active member of the Vighnaharta Ganeshotsav Mandal in Kalewadi. He was married and leaves behind a one-and-a-half-year-old son.
