Nashik MP Rajabhau Waje Urges Naming Of Ozar Airport After Yashwantrao Chavan | Sourced

Nashik MP Rajabhau Waje met Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu in Delhi on Monday (August 4). During this meeting, he demanded that Nashik’s Ozar Airport be named after Yashwantrao Chavan. Also, they had a positive discussion on many important demands for the overall development of the airport and to increase air connectivity. This meeting is considered very important in the backdrop of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela to be held in 2027.

MP Waje reminded the Union Minister that Yashwantrao Chavan gave great strength to this area in terms of industry, defence and aviation by establishing Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in Nashik. Therefore, it would be appropriate to name Ozar Airport after him.

Minister Rammohan Naidu showed a positive attitude to these demands and assured to consider all the proposals in detail. Both the leaders expressed their intention to immediately start the proposed project in coordination with the Central and State Governments as well as HAL and other relevant organisations. This meeting has created hope that the development of the aviation sector in Nashik will gain momentum.

Many important issues were raised in this meeting for the development of the airport:

– The Nashik-Delhi flight, which currently runs three days a week, should be resumed daily. This will eliminate the inconvenience of business, medical, educational and religious passengers.

– The capacity of the terminal of the Ozar airport should be increased to 1000 passengers at a time.

– Work on a new runway and more parking spaces should be created.

– A demand was made to create separate helipads for the upcoming Kumbh Mela. If separate helipads are created at Trimbakeshwar, Nashik city and Ozar, it will be very useful for emergency and administrative work during the rush of the Kumbh Mela.
