Mumbai Police on Friday said that the city has been put on high alert after they got a threat call. The caller claimed that 34 vehicles in Mumbai have been fitted with “human bombs” carrying about 400 kg of RDX, and that explosions would take place to “shake the entire city.” The threat was sent to the traffic police helpline on WhatsApp. According to police, the message was sent in the name of a group called “Lashkar-e-Jihadi.” It also said that 14 Pakistani terrorists have already entered India.
Police have increased security not just in Mumbai but across Maharashtra. Officials said they are taking the message seriously and are checking all possible angles while investigating the threat.

Police sources said they are treating the message very seriously because of the sensitive timing. Cyber experts and anti-terror teams have been brought in to track where the message came from. Security has also been tightened at busy spots, religious gatherings, and major junctions across Mumbai.
Senior officers said they are checking the source of the WhatsApp message and trying to confirm if it is genuine. They also urged people to stay calm and to immediately inform police about anything suspicious. The threat comes just days after Mumbai Police received a series of similar calls and emails, raising fresh worries about public safety during the festive season.
