Amritsar: Panic erupted in Punjab’s Amritsar city as 10-12 schools received bomb threats on Friday, causing massive tension among parents. The school authorities immediately informed the police as soon as they received the threat emails. Police and bomb squad teams reached the schools and initiated anti-sabotage checks. As a precautionary measure, school authorities declared a holiday and called the parents to take their kids home.
The news of bomb threat caused a major panic among parents. “I received a call from my son’s school and was asked to take him home. I asked the reason; however, I did not get much clarity,” father of a kid told India Today.
“I received a message from my son’s school, talking about some safety drills. They asked me to take my son home, and I did that,” a mother of a child was quoted by India Today.

Amritsar ADCP-2 Sirivennela informed that the 10-12 schools received the threat emails, and after conducting a thorough search found that the threat was a hoax.
“… Ten to twelve schools received bomb threats via email. We have conducted anti-sabotage checks in all the schools. There is nothing to worry about, it is just a hoax call. We are investigating who sent these emails..,” he said.
