Vantara’s Elephant Care Centre is home to the world’s largest elephant hospital, offering advanced veterinary treatments using allopathy, Ayurveda, and acupuncture.

Anant Ambani’s Vantara has been honored with the ‘Prani Mitra’ National Award, India’s highest recognition for animal welfare, in the ‘Corporate’ category. This award was in recognition to the outstanding efforts of the Radhe Krishna Temple Elephant Welfare Trust (RKTEWT), a part of Vantara, which focuses on rescuing and caring for elephants.

The ‘Prani Mitra’ Award in the Corporate category recognizes organizations that have made significant contributions to animal welfare, including corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives supporting the cause. The award was presented at a ceremony in New Delhi by the Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, recognizing Vantara’s commitment to animal welfare.

Vantara’s Elephant Care Centre serves as a sanctuary for over 240 rescued elephants, providing them with a safe and natural habitat. Among them, 30 were saved from circuses, over 100 from the logging industry, and many others from harsh conditions like street begging and tourist rides. The sanctuary, spread across 998 acres of specially designed forest land, allows elephants to live freely, interact with each other, and engage in natural behaviors like foraging and bathing. They also receive top-notch medical care and dedicated attention.

Vivaan Karani, CEO of Vantara, expressed his gratitude for receiving the prestigious ‘Prani Mitra’ National Award, reaffirming Vantara’s dedication to animal welfare. He highlighted their mission to improve welfare standards and protect India’s rich biodiversity. “This award is a tribute to all those who have dedicated their lives to caring for and protecting animals. At Vantara, serving animals is not just a responsibility—it is our dharma and seva, driven by compassion and commitment. We will continue working tirelessly to uplift welfare standards and create a lasting impact,” Karani stated.

Vantara’s Elephant Care Centre is home to the world’s largest elephant hospital, offering advanced veterinary treatments using allopathy, Ayurveda, and acupuncture. The facility includes cutting-edge features such as a hydrotherapy pond, a hyperbaric oxygen chamber, and specialized foot care services. Additionally, a hydraulic surgical platform and a customized endoscope ensure efficient and stress-free medical procedures for the elephants.

To further its mission, Vantara operates a fleet of 75 specially designed elephant ambulances. These vehicles come equipped with hydraulic lifts, cushioned flooring, and other features to ensure the safe and comfortable transportation of rescued elephants. Through these pioneering efforts, Vantara continues to set new benchmarks in ethical elephant care and veterinary excellence.

The 3,000 acre animal shelter ‘Vantara’ was launched by Anant Ambani in the ‘Green Belt’ of Reliance’s Jamnagar Refinery Complex, Gujarat in February 2024. Vantara, which is a Hindi word, means ‘star of the forest’.
