Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The aim of the Investors’ summit is to create an environment for business as well as to attract investments. Such occasions also give an opportunity to showcase MP’s potential for industries.
As far as creating job opportunities are concerned, the government has set up IT units and various companies are working in this field. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav made the remarks in a heart-to-heart conversation with Free Press before the GIS.
Is it the aim of the summit to bring in investments or is it held to create an environment for it?
The Investors’ Summit is held to create a business-friendly environment, but attracting investment is the real aim. Still, it also serves as a platform to showcase MP’s industrial potentials.
MP doesn’t have a port, and air connectivity is also limited. What measures are taken to address this issue?
True. MP lacks direct access to a sea port. But the government is focusing on enhancing logistics through major freight corridors. The state is developing the East-West and North-South corridors to improve connectivity for industries. On the aviation front, efforts are underway in Indore, Bhopal, and Jabalpur airports to enhance air connectivity.
It is often said industries will be set up across the state. In reality, we don’t have proper industrial areas. How is the government addressing this issue?
To promote balanced industrial growth, the government is expanding industrialisation beyond traditional hubs like Indore, Pithampur, and Bhopal. So it is developing new industrial zones in Gwalior, Rewa, Satna, Chhindwara, and Narmadapuram.
You have visited Japan, the US, and Germany. What differences did you notice between there and here? How will you make your visit useful for the state?
During trips to Japan, the US, the UK, and Germany, main differences observed include a highly skilled workforce, strong industry-academia collaboration, automation, and streamlined business regulations. These countries emphasize vocational education, ensuring that their workforce is trained in industry-specific skills.
Many youngsters from MP are going to Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad, Gurgaon, Noida, Mumbai, and Chennai for jobs. How much time will it take to ensure that they get jobs in the state?
The migration of MP youth to metro cities is a concern. But the government is working to create job opportunities within the state. The IT sector is expanding, with major companies like LTIMindtree and RackBank setting up operations in Indore.
New IT parks are also coming up in Indore, Rewa, and Ujjain to boost the tech ecosystem. There is also a problem with higher education in the state. To provide quality education, children are sent outside the state. What is the solution to it?
To provide quality higher education, MP is upgrading universities like DAVV, Barkatullah, RGPV, and Jiwaji University and inviting private institutions like Symbiosis & Amity to set up campuses in the state.
Which sectors of industry have the most potential in the state? After organising so many RICs (Regional Investment Conclaves), what industries do you think are showing interest in the state?
Many sectors, including agro-processing, pharmaceuticals, automobiles & EVs, textiles, and renewable energy, have shown interest in MP. The Regional Investment Conclaves (RICs) have played a key role in identifying investor preferences.
