New Delhi: Indian Railways witnesses a major spike in ticket demands during the festive season. To address this high volume demand, the Central Railway will operate 1,702 special trains. According to Central Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer Swapnil Nila, the special trains will run from stations such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Pune, Kolhapur, and Nagpur.
Out of these, over 800 trains will operate towards Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and the Northeastern states. Additionally, trains connecting other parts of the country will also be introduced.

- The Central Railway will operate 1,702 special trains during Diwali and Chhath Puja
- The special trains will run from stations such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Pune, Kolhapur, and Nagpur.
- To ensure passenger comfort and safety, extra ticket counters have been opened at stations.
- Large stations have been equipped with holding areas that can accommodate more than 3,000 passengers, offering facilities like food, water, toilets, and fans.
- Tickets can also be booked using the mobile UTS app.
Ashwini Vaishnaw conducts surprise inspection
To make the travel experience of the passengers hassle free, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw reviewed the crowd management measures at Delhi’s Anand Vihar Railway Station. After the inspection, he said that strict action has been initiated against those circulating fake videos on social media targeting the Railways. He also appealed to people not to spread such fake videos, saying that they create confusion among passengers.
The Railway also stated that some social media handles were spreading misleading or old videos related to railway operations during the festive season, causing confusion among passengers. Over 20 such accounts have been identified, and FIRs are being filed against them.
Central Railway’s CPRO Swapnil Nila said that more than 800 of these trains will be for Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and the northeastern states. Additionally, these trains will connect various other locations across the country. To facilitate passengers, extra ticket counters have been set up at major stations.
Keeping passenger comfort in mind, he said, “Holding areas with a capacity of over 3,000 passengers have been established at major stations. These areas are equipped with facilities such as food, water, toilets, and fans. Mobile UTS services are available for ticket booking, and additional ticket counters have been opened to reduce waiting time.”
