The headmaster of Lion MP Bhuta Sion Sarvajanik School in Mumbai, Jagdish Indalkar, has been selected as one of the 55 leaders to participate in the national school leaders’ conference. Ravindra Bhaidas Patil (Zilla Parishad Girls School, Nandurbar), and Usha Dole (Kendriya Prathmik Shala Amashi, Kolhapur) will also represent Maharashtra at the event.
The conference, National Conference for School Leadership: Exemplars of Change and Innovation, is helmed by the National Centre for School Leadership (NCSL), at the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), under the aegis of the Union Ministry of Education.
The event, scheduled for January 8-10 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, will provide a platform for selected school principals and heads to showcase their leadership practices that have brought changes in education. As part of the initiative, NCSL invited case studies and video submissions from government and government-aided schools, receiving over 300 entries.
Indalkar, whose school serves underprivileged communities in Dharavi, Antop Hill, and Pratiksha Nagar, has facilitated initiatives like a Google Future Classroom with Chromebooks and projectors, STEM and robotics labs, upgraded sanitation facilities, solar panels, and a Kalpana Kulinkant E-Library with over 1,000 e-books.
Additionally, the school implemented mental health programmes, gender safety workshops, and health camps for students and staff.
