New Delhi: There were moments of fear and panic when a missile landed near a village in Jaisalmer district, Rajasthan, causing a massive explosion. Reportedly, the missile landed at a short distance from the village with a loud bang. People immediately rushed out of their homes and alerted the Indian Army, prompting a police and army team to arrive at the scene.
Incident occurred between 4-5 PM
According to reports, the missile, which missed its target, landed in the Bhadariya area near the border of Lathi and Bhadariya villages in Jaisalmer district. The incident occurred between 4-5 PM on Saturday, 08 November 2025, evening, when a loud explosion was heard around the village.
Missile debris moved away
When people came out of their homes, they saw a missile shell. No casualties have been reported so far in this incident. Upon receiving the information, local police and army teams immediately arrived at the scene and seized the debris from the tail section of the missed missile, placing it in a loading vehicle and taking it to the field firing range.
Exercises underway at Pokhran Field Firing Range
The area of Jaisalmer where this misfired missile landed is near the field firing range. According to reports, a routine exercise was underway at the Pokhran Field Firing Range in the Lathi area on Saturday, 08 November 2025. During the exercise, a missile fired during the exercise missed its target and landed about 500 meters from Bhadariya village, near the wiring of the field firing range.
Hearing the sound of the explosion, residents of Bhadariya village came out of their homes and saw a missile shell. Acting on information from villagers, army officers launched an immediate operation and recovered the missile remains. An investigation has been started to look into the matter and to unravel the reasons behind this mishap.
