Delhi Election Results 2025: In an unexpected turn of events, BJP leader Parvesh Verma has defeated former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal from the prestigious New Delhi Assembly Constituency. Verma, a former 2-time Lok Sabha MP from the West Delhi constituency, secured a total of 30,088 votes, against Kejriwal’s tally of 25,999 votes, defeating the AAP chief by a margin 4,089 votes, according to updated results shared by the Election Commission.
Who is Parvesh Verma?
Hailing from a noted political family, Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma was born in 1977, and is the son of veteran BJP leader and former Delhi chief minister Sahib Singh Verma, who passed away in 2007. Parvesh’s uncle, Azad Singh, is a former mayor of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation mayor and had unsuccessfully contested from Mundka assembly constituency on a BJP ticket in the 2013 Delhi polls.

In 2013, Parvesh Verma made his formal entry into electoral politics, emerging victorious from the Mehrauli Assembly constituency, in the 2013 Delhi assembly polls.
A year later, as the BJP wave swept the nation, Verma secured the West Delhi Lok Sabha seat for the saffron brigade in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, and retained the seat in the 2019 polls by registering a landslide victory, winning by a gargantuan margin of 5.78 lakh votes.
As a Lok Sabha MP, Parvesh Verma has served on the Standing Committee on Urban Development, and was also a member of the Joint Committee on Salaries and Allowances of Members of Parliament.

Verma led a vociferous campaign against Arvind Kejriwal, called the “Remove Kejriwal, Save the Nation” campaign, during which he castigated the incumbent AAP regime for being unable to fulfill their promises and commitments made to the electorate.
During his campaign, Parvesh Verma criticized the AAP government over its administration, raising issues like pollution, women’s safety, and development of civic infrastructure. Verma also cornered the AAP over its unfulfilled commitment of cleaning up the Yamuna River, highlighting the ruling party alleged “mismanagement” of Delhi’s environmental issues.
