New Delhi: In a major development, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has announced the rollout of the Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana for women in the state, under which eligible women will be provided with Rs 2,100 monthly assistance. Talking to the media, the CM said that starting from September 25, eligible women will start receiving the benefits of this scheme. It is important to note that in the first phase, 19–20 lakh women will benefit from this scheme.
The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the double-engine government is continuously running welfare schemes in the interest of the poor and the needy.
Key features of the scheme:
- In the first phase, families with an annual income of up to ₹1 lakh have been included.
- Other income groups will also be gradually included in the coming time.
- To avail the benefit, either the unmarried woman herself or the husband of a married woman must be a resident of Haryana for at least 15 years.
- There will be no restriction on the number of women in a family. For example, if there are three women in a family, all three will receive the benefit.
- Women who are already availing higher pension benefits under 9 existing government schemes will not be eligible for this scheme.
- Women suffering from Stage 3 or 4 cancer, 54 rare diseases, hemophilia, thalassemia, and sickle cell disease will get the benefit of this scheme in addition to their existing pension.
- On completing 45 years of age, an unmarried woman will automatically become eligible for the Widow/Dependent Women Pension Scheme.
- On turning 60, the beneficiary woman will become eligible for the Old Age Pension Scheme.
The government has also made it clear that in order to avail the benefits of this scheme, it is mandatory for the woman or her husband to have been residing in the state for at least 15 years. The administration says that this scheme will prove to be a milestone in making women self-reliant and ensuring their active participation in society.
