Mumbai: The three judges on the committee for Maratha reservation will be given ‘suitable remuneration’ instead of a monthly salary, according to a government official.

About The Decision

The decision is significant against the backdrop of Rs 7 lakh per month salary being paid to a one-member committee probing the encounter killing of Badlapur sex assault case accused Akshay Shinde.

The government recently approved the Rs 7 lakh remuneration for High Court Chief Justice (Retd) Dilip Bhosale, who is currently receiving a few lakhs per month for another inquiry into the Ghatkopar hoarding collapse. Bhosale was also appointed head of the advisory panel on Maratha reservation on November 8, 2023.

In January 2024, the government had decided to provide facilities such as vehicles and monthly remuneration to these members. But the state order says, as suggested by Justice (Retd) Bhosale, that instead of the monthly remuneration, suitable remuneration will be paid for the days when the government calls a meeting.
