Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) is preparing to operate metro trains till 12 midnight on the occasion of Christmas on December 25 and New Year on January 1. UPMRC has sent a proposal in this regard to the Housing Department. It is important to note that on normal days, the metro services in the city operate till 10:30 pm.
However, passenger footfall remains high till late night on December 25 and January 1. Keeping this in mind, UPMRC has decided to run metro trains till 12 midnight on both days.
A UPMRC official said that as soon as approval is received from the Housing Department, teams will be made ready for metro operations. Once the approval is granted, a detailed operational plan will be prepared.
