New Zealand’s star batter Kane Williamson has signed with the London Spirit franchise for The Hundred 2025 season, set to take place later this year. Interestingly, the legendary New Zealand batter went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction last November.

Williamson will not only play but also lead the team, replacing Dan Lawrence as captain after London Spirit finished at the bottom of the table last season.

The franchise confirmed his signing on February 17 via social media. This will be Williamson’s first time playing in The Hundred, the ECB’s unique 100-ball tournament, which began in 2021. The 2025 season kicks off on August 5 with the London Spirit facing Oval Invincibles at Lord’s.

Kane Willamson has played 262 T20 matches, and has scored 6,675 runs at an average of 31.93. He has played 93 T20 internationals for New Zealand, captaining in 75 of them. In the IPL, he represented Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans across 79 matches.

Recently, the 34-year-old played for Durban’s SuperGiants in SA20 2025. He is now preparing for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, set to take place in Pakistan and the UAE. Recently, Williamson also performed well in the tri-nation ODI series in Pakistan, where New Zealand won the final.
