Lava has started teasing a new smartphone, and it looks really interesting. The phone comes with a display on the back, placed inside a large camera island. It seems similar to what we saw in Xiaomi’s recent flagship phones like the Xiaomi 17 Pro series. But not many people could recall that Lava already experimented dual display phone in the past.

Back in December 2024, Lava launched the Blaze Duo 5G, a phone that also featured a secondary rear display. That device was positioned as an affordable mid-range phone and gave us a clear idea of how Lava thinks about dual-screen designs. This new teaser suggests Lava is ready to refine that concept rather than abandon it.

Looking at the teaser image, the rear design feels more polished than the Blaze Duo. This time, the screen is larger than the screen we saw in Blaze Duo 5G. The camera island is larger and cleaner, with two camera lenses on one side and the rear screen on the other. The text near the camera confirms a 50MP main sensor.

The rear display isn’t as big as in Xiaomi’s flagship phones. But that is a deliberate decision. Lava operates mainly in the mid-range space, where battery life and cost control matter more than flashy features. A smaller screen means lower power consumption and fewer compromises elsewhere.

The secondary display would be used for essential features such as receiving calls, viewing notifications, displaying the time, or even handling basic music controls. This is similar to how the Blaze Duo 5G used its secondary screen.

The design language also deserves attention. The black finish, combined with gold accents inside the rear display, gives the phone a more premium feel. It looks like Lava wants this device to stand out visually, even if the pricing stays aggressive.

No hardware details have been confirmed yet, but expectations should be realistic. This will most likely be a mid-range 5G phone with pricing aimed at Indian buyers. The rear display will be the main differentiator in a market where most phones look identical from the back.

What makes this teaser important is not just the design. It shows that Lava is building on its own ideas. The Blaze Duo 5G was the first step, and this upcoming phone feels like the next iteration. If Lava improves software support and makes the rear display genuinely useful, this phone could end up being more than just a design experiment.

For now, Lava says the phone is coming soon. More teasers will follow.
