Lava has launched its new budget-friendly smartphone, the Lava Shark, in India. The phone targets first-time smartphone users and those looking for an affordable yet feature-packed device. The phone is priced at Rs. 6999 and brings a 120Hz display, a 50MP camera, and a massive 5000mAh battery.
The Lava Shark features a 6.67-inch HD+ punch-hole display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is an HD+ panel, but the high refresh rate is rare to find in this price segment. The display promises a smoother scrolling and gaming experience.
It is powered by by the UNISOC T606 octa-core processor and has 4GB RAM. The phone also supports an additional 4GB of virtual RAM. While the UNISOC chipset isn’t the fastest, it should handle day-to-day tasks efficiently. The device also comes with 64GB internal storage, expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card. The phone runs on Android 14, bringing the latest software features.
In the camera department, the Lava Shark packs a 50MP AI rear camera with LED flash. It supports features like AI Mode, Portrait, Pro Mode, and HDR, aiming to enhance photography for budget users. On the front, there’s an 8MP selfie camera with screen flash for better low-light selfies.

However, the in-box charger is limited to 10W, meaning users will need to buy a separate fast charger to utilize the full 18W charging speed. Lava claims the phone offers up to 45 hours of talk time, 376 hours of standby time, and 550 minutes of YouTube playback.
The phone also has an IP54 rating that makes it resistant to dust and water splashes. It comes in Titanium Gold and Stealth Black colors.
Lava has priced the Shark at Rs. 6,999. It will be available in Lava’s retail stores starting March 2025. The phone is also backed by Lava’s 1-year warranty with free at-home service.
