The police of Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttar Pradesh on Monday busted an interstate terror module case. This led to the arrest of several individuals, followed by a fatal explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort. Now, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is investigating the case. It’s coming up with continuous developments in the attempt to crack the complete case. Now, the links between the arrested doctors and the suspected suicide bomber are slowly unfolding. The revelations in the case are quite shocking so far.
Who are the arrested individuals in the ‘white-collar’ terror module?
The authorities have arrested and are interrogating several people in the case. The names are Muzammil Ganaie, Dr Adeel Ahmad Rather, Dr Shaheen Sayeed, Dr Ahmed Mohiyuddin Saiyed, Irfan Ahmad, Maulvi Hafeez Mohammad Ishtiaq, and Dr Sajad Malik. Apart from these, the suspected suicide bomber’s name is Dr Umar Un Nabi.
1. Umar Un Nabi
Umar Nabi, the suspected suicide bomber of the Red Fort incident, on Monday drove the i20 car. Now, the latest reports are claiming that his DNA has matched that of his mother, confirming his involvement. Alongside, Nabi was an assistant professor at Al-Falah University.
The officials stated, “He maintained close ties with Dr Muzammil and Dr Adeel, coordinating logistics and storage of explosives.” They also mentioned that he was continuously changing locations.
2. Muzammil Ganaie
Dr Muzammil Shakeel was arrested by the joint efforts of the Haryana Police and Jammu & Kashmir Police on Monday. He was a teacher at Al-Falah University and was a doctor. People from the university said that Muzammil always spoke softly and never showed signs of radicalisation.
However, he had a rented place in Faridabad’s Dhauj, from where ammonium nitrate and ammunition were confiscated.
3. Ahmed Mohiyuddin Saiyed
The Anti-Terrorist Squad of Gujarat arrested doctor Mohiyuddin Saiyed, who has completed his MBBS degree from China. Saiyed reportedly had a business of shawarma in Rajendranagar. During the investigation, the police found Glock pistols, 4 kg of castor bean mash, and ammunition.
4. Adeel Ahmed Rather
Doctor Adeel Ahmad Rather from South Kashmir’s Anantnag was arrested in Saharanpur by the collaboration of Jammu & Kashmir police and Uttar Pradesh police. Shockingly, he was working under a signed contract with Saharanpur’s V Bro’s Hospitals, earning Rs. 4 lakh a month.
The authorities traced him after tracking his alleged involvement in installing posters in Srinagar that supported a banned terrorist organisation.
5. Shaheen Sayeed
Dr Shaheen Sayeed was arrested in Srinagar for having an assault rifle in her vehicle. Later, she was taken to Srinagar by air for interrogation. Reports are suggesting that Shaheen was a close aide of Muzammil and was looking at logistics for the group.
6. Maulvi Hafeez Mohammad Ishtiaq
Hafeez Mohammad Ishtiaq, a maulvi at Faridabad’s Al-Falah mosque, was arrested by the Jammu & Kashmir Police from Faridabad. He was later taken to Srinagar for interrogation. During the investigation, police authorities found heavy loads, i.e., 2,500 kg of explosive substances, from his place within the complex of Al-Falah University.
7. Irfan Ahmad Wagah
Irfan Ahmad had previously worked at Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar. He had served as an Imam (one who leads Muslim worshippers in prayer) in Jammu & Kashmir’s Nowgam. The Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) and Srinagar Police conducted a raid at his residence and arrested him along with his wife. The officials are hinting at his alleged involvement in instigating the medical professionals and putting them in connection to the terror networks in Kashmir.
8. Sajad Malik
Doctor Sajad Malik from Pulwama was detained by the police on Tuesday. However, the detention points at two possibilities. The first one being his involvement in the white-collar terror module and the second one – to gain information about his friend, Umar Un Nabi, the suspected suicide bomber.
After the incident, police increased the security around the capital region and are actively working to investigate the depths of the case.
