Mumbai: The Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has launched an initiative to demolish two illegal under-construction buildings in Dombivli. KDMC chief Indu Rani Jakhar directed civic officials to take strict action against unauthorized constructions within the limits of the twin city of Kalyan-Dombivli.
According to civic officials, action was taken by Assistant Municipal Commissioner Hema Mumbarkar against a ground-plus-four-storey building constructed on reserved land in the Khambalpada area of Dombivli East. The demolition drive was carried out in the presence of officials from KDMC’s encroachment department and local police. A Poklen machine and two gas cutters were used to dismantle the unauthorized structure.
Similarly, a ground-plus-three-storey under-construction building in Dhokali village, Dombivli, was also targeted for demolition. The action was led by Assistant Municipal Commissioner Bharat Pawar along with his team, supported by police security and civic officials.
KDMC officials further revealed that an FIR was registered against five individuals involved in illegal constructions in the Manda and Balyani areas of Kalyan Taluka after receiving complaints. KDMC had earlier issued notices asking them to submit relevant documents, but they failed to comply. As a result, KDMC proceeded with legal action under the MRTP Act.
