Amid the ongoing India’s Got Latent controversy, social media influencer and YouTuber Apoorva Mukhija’s event in Udaipur, Rajasthan, was cancelled at the last minute after protests by the Karni Sena in the city. Members of the fringe group warned that the YouTuber will face severe consequences if she stepped foot in the land of Mewar.

According to a report in ETV Bharat, Paramveer Singh, head of the Sena division in Udaipur, stated that the Apoorva’s words and actions on India’s Got Latent were against the culture of Rajasthan, and India as a whole, and that “such behaviour won’t be tolerated”.

The Karni Sena also protested against Apoorva’s event and warned the government and the event organisers to take steps and stop her of face dire consequences. “We won’t let her enter Mewar,” members of the fringe group said.

Post their protests, the event and shoot involving Apoorva, which was supposed to happen on February 20, was cancelled in Udaipur. The YouTuber is yet to issue an official statement on the entire fiasco.

For those unversed, the controversy erupted after Apoorva, along with Ranveer Allahbadia and Ashish Chanchlani, appeared on Samay Raina’s show, India’s Got Latent. During the episode, Ranveer asked a contestant, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex for the rest of your life, or would you join in once and stop it forever?” Apoorva and Samay were seen laughing out loud at the supposed joke.

In another segment, Apoorva was seen abusing a contestant and asking him if he had seen a vagina in his life after being born out of one.

The comments during the episode did not sit well with netizens who accused the content creators and YouTubers of “promoting vulgarity and obscenity online”.

The Maharashtra Cyber Cell and Assam Police have filed FIRs against Ranveer, Samay, Apoorva and others involved in the controversial episode. On February 12, Apoorva recorded her statement in the matter with the Mumbai Police.
