Actor and Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) chief Kamal Haasan slammed the BJP over its thumping victory in the Bihar Assembly elections.
Chennai: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA)’s tsunami washed away the Mahagathbandhan in Bihar far behind, with the BJP emerging as the single-largest party in Bihar, securing 89 seats. The NDA alliance won a total of 202 seats in the 243-seat assembly. Reacting to the NDA’s historic win, Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) chief Kamal Haasan on Saturday stated that the people of Tamil Nadu have to be very careful, hinting at some manipulation in the EVM. His statement has come at a time when the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections are just months away in 2026.
“We have to be careful. Tamil Nadu will have to be careful and vigilant. That’s all I can say,” Haasan said.

SIR In Tamil Nadu
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has implemented Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Tamil Nadu and several other states. The prime aim of imposing SIR is to make sure that all the eligible citizen is listed correctly and ready to vote when elections are held in the states.
In October, EC informed the Madras High Court that it will initiate the revision exercise in the southern state Tamil Nadu as part of its nationwide effort to update voter lists.
To keep the revision exercise smooth, the Commission has already discussed the process with Chief Electoral Officers across the country.
EC Implemented SIR In Several States
It is to be noted that the EC has implemented SIR exercise in several states, including Tamil Nadu, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.
The Assembly elections in the Tamil Nadu Assembly are scheduled for 2026.
Bihar Assembly Elections
Nitish Kumar-led NDA alliance in Bihar has achieved a major victory with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is all ready to serve a fifth consecutive term after the alliance secured 202 out of 243 seats in the state.
The saffron party has emerged as the strongest performer within the NDA alliance. The BJP secured 89 assembly seats, its highest-ever tally in Bihar.
Nitish Kumar’s JDU succeeded in securing 85 seats, while Chirag Paswan-led LJP (RV) won 19 of the 29 seats it contested. HAM secured 5 seats and Upendra Kushwaha’s party claimed 4.
