As part of the promotional and publicity initiatives for the ‘Hind-Di-Chadar’ programme, a singing competition was organised in which Kumari Kalina Das, a Class IV student of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation School No. 42, Ghansoli, delivered a remarkable performance. She beautifully rendered the popular devotional song “Hind-Di-Chadar,” based on the life of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji and originally sung by renowned singer Satinder Sartaaj.
The video of her performance received lakhs of likes from across the country and was widely shared on social media platforms. She also received immense appreciation when she performed the same devotional song at the special ‘Hind-Di-Chadar’ cultural programme organised by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation at Vishnudas Bhave Natyagruha in Vashi.
In recognition of her talent, Kalina Das was specially invited to the grand two-day ‘Hind-Di-Chadar’ program held at Kharghar in the distinguished presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Tai Pawar.
On this occasion, Kalina Das and her parents were specially felicitated at the hands of Konkan Divisional Commissioner Vijay Suryawanshi and Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde.
Originally from the state of Assam, Kalina Das studies in a Marathi-medium school run by the municipal corporation in Navi Mumbai. Her singing of a Punjabi devotional song has been widely appreciated as a symbol of India’s cultural diversity.
