After Airtel’s recent collaboration with SpaceX, Jio has now announced its partnership with the Elon Musk-led company to introduce Starlink’s satellite broadband services to India. This move aims to expand high-speed internet access, especially in rural and remote areas. However, this deal is subject to regulatory approvals from the Indian government.
If approved, this partnership will allow Jio and SpaceX to work together in bringing satellite-powered broadband to millions of Indians. Jio plans to integrate Starlink’s solutions into its broadband ecosystem, offering retail availability, online sales, and customer support for installation and activation.
Jio’s strategy involves more than just distribution—it aims to ensure seamless connectivity by making Starlink services available via its retail stores and online platforms. It will provide customer support, including installation and activation assistance.
The company is also exploring ways to strengthen India’s digital infrastructure using satellite technology, bridging connectivity gaps in underserved regions.
Mathew Oommen, Group CEO of Reliance Jio, highlighted the significance of this deal:
“Ensuring that every Indian, no matter where they live, has access to affordable and high-speed broadband remains Jio’s top priority. Our collaboration with SpaceX to bring Starlink to India strengthens our commitment and marks a transformative step toward seamless broadband connectivity for all.”
Now, all eyes are on the Indian government’s decision—will Starlink’s satellite internet finally get the green light?
