In a tragic event, a speeding luxury Audi car ploughed into pedestrians near Kharabas Circle in Jaipur’s Patrakar Colony area on Friday night, killing one person and injuring 15 others. According to a PTI report, four of the critically injured were referred to Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital.

Police said four people were in the car, and all of them were allegedly intoxicated, as reported by news agency PTI. After striking a divider, the vehicle became out of control and crashed into multiple food carts and stalls along a distance of around 30 meters, before coming to its final resting place. A number of parked vehicles were also damaged during this incident, which caused widespread panic in the neighbourhood. One of the occupants has since been arrested, while the rest of the occupants fled the scene. The vehicle itself has since been confiscated.

“On Friday night, a speeding Audi car first hit a divider near Kharabas Circle in Patrakar Colony. The car then hit several roadside stalls. More than 15 people were injured in the accident. All the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital. Some were discharged after first aid, while others are still undergoing treatment. A few of the injured were referred to the trauma centre at SMS Hospital,” Patrakar Colony Police Station Officer Madan Kadwasra was quoted as saying by ETV Bharat.

One of the injured, Ramesh Bairwa, a resident of Bhilwara, later died during treatment. Four critically injured patients were shifted to SMS Hospital, police stated, PTI reported.

Taking to X, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said,”The road accident that occurred in Jaipur’s Journalist Colony is extremely tragic and heart-rending. Instructions have been given for the appropriate and prompt treatment of all the injured. May Lord Shri Ram grant peace to the departed soul and bestow swift recovery upon the injured.”

Deputy Chief Minister Premchand Bairwa and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar visited Jaipuria Hospital to enquire about the condition of the injured.

“Visited the injured citizens at SMS Hospital after reaching there, following the unfortunate road accident that occurred in Patrakar Colony, situated in Sanganer Assembly Constituency of Jaipur, and inquired about their well-being,” reads his post.
