ACKPOT for THIS Indian state as it discovers largest gold reserve,

Bhubaneswar: Odisha has discovered extensive gold reserves in several districts, paving the way for its emergence as a major gold mining hub in the country. Odisha Mining Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena confirmed these findings in the state Assembly. He highlighted Odisha’s growing mineral wealth and its potential economic impact. Spots in Sundargarh, Nabarangpur, Angul, and Koraput have been identified with large-scale gold reserves. Preliminary surveys indicate the presence of gold mines in Malkangiri, Sambalpur, and Boudh districts.

It is important to note that these explorations have placed Odisha among India’s major gold-rich regions. In Mayurbhanj, ongoing investigations include Jashipur, Suriyaguda, Ruansi, Idelkucha, Maredihi, Suleipat, and Badampahar. To recall, the Geological Survey of India (GSI) had earlier discovered gold reserves in the Adasa-Rampalli region of Deogarh during a G-2 level exploration for copper.

Here are some of the key details:

  • Gold exploration is progressing in the Gopur-Gazipur, Mankadchuan, Salekana, and Dimirimunda regions of Keonjhar district.
  • Odisha is preparing to auction its first gold mining block in Deogarh. This marks a significant milestone for the state’s mineral sector.
  • GSI and Odisha Mining Corporation are conducting further investigations in Mankadchuan, Salekana, and Dimirimunda in Keonjhar to assess the gold extraction potential.
  • Technical committees will review the final exploration reports before initiating commercialization efforts.
  • Preliminary surveys are underway in the Jashipur, Suriyaguda, and Badampahar regions of Mayurbhan
  • GSI is exploring copper and gold deposits in the Jaladihi region of Deogarh, with results expected soon.
  • The Gopur-Gazipur deposits in the Keonjhar region are awaiting quantity assessment before moving towards auction.

Gold exploration in Odisha has the potential to transform the state’s economy, attract investments, and create new employment opportunities. With auctions and further exploration on the horizon, Odisha could soon emerge as a key player in India’s gold mining industry.
