New Delhi: Popular YouTuber and Jan Suraaj Party candidate Tripurari Kumar Tiwari, also known as Manish Kashyap, has fallen far behind in the race from Chanpatia Assembly seat in West Champaran. Earlier, it was believed that he might turn the Chanpatia contest into a triangular fight, but by the end of the fourth round of counting, he remains in the third position. So far, he has secured only 4,523 votes.

As per the Election Commission data, Congress candidate Abhishek Ranjan is currently leading. By the end of the fourth round of counting, he has received a total of 16,637 votes. Here are some of the key details:

  • Manish Kashyap had first taken membership of the BJP but later joined the Jan Suraj Party.
  • In the 2020 Assembly elections, BJP’s Umakant Singh had won this seat.
  • At that time, the margin of victory was 13,469 votes.

  • Chanpatia saw a 63.82% voter turnout in the 2020 elections.

The Congress, on the other hand, blamed the Election Commission for the poor performance in the Bihar elections.

“The contest is directly between the Election Commission of India and the people of Bihar, and let’s see who wins. I’m not even talking about parties. I’m talking about a direct, straight contest between CEC Gyanesh Kumar and the people of Bihar..,” he said.

He added: “These are just early trends, we’re waiting a bit. The initial trends certainly suggest that Gyanesh Kumar is gaining an upper hand over the people of Bihar… I can’t underestimate the people of Bihar. They have shown courage. They showed it despite the SIR. Now, let’s see in the coming hours how effective Gyanesh Kumar will be.”
