Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The police have arrested an inter-state criminal wanted in a case of abduction and murder. The arrested criminal carried a reward of Rs 30,000 on his arrest. He married five women of different states and was in live in relationship with other women. The arrested accused has cases against him in other states and is being questioned further, police said.
The police team traced Awakesh’s location to West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Meghalay, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and other cities of Madhya Pradesh and finally nabbed him from Hyderabad on Tuesday. A case of abduction and murder was registered at Chhola Mandir police station on complaint of Sandeep’s father Suraj Prajapati.
DCP Zone-4 Jitendra Singh Panwar on Wednesday said police team under ACP Richa Jain arrested Awakesh aka Vikas Jaiswal from Hyderabad. According to reports, Shankar Nagar resident Sandeep Prajapati (22) went missing on December 2 and his body was later recovered from Delawadi forest in Sehore. Sandeep’s father Suraj Prajapati lodged a police complaint against Awakesh who had called Sandeep’s sister Vandana and demanded a ransom of Rs 1 lakh. Investigations revealed that Awakesh and his two aides Utkarsh Chaudhary and Adarsh of Begu Sarai in Bihar had killed Sandeep a day before they made the call for ransom.
Sandeep’s kin transferred Rs 39,000 online to Awakesh in a bid to save his life. Police later arrested Utkarsh (19) who informed police that Awakesh had planned abduction and murder of Sandeep as he was objecting to his relationship with his cousin sister and was threatening to inform police about his past criminal records. Police launched a hunt for Awakesh but found that he was living with a fake Aadhaar card and identity in Bhopal.

Police learnt that Awakesh married at-least five women and was also in relationship with half a dozen women. It came to fore that Awakesh hails from Kaurwa district of Chhattisgarh and his real name was Vikas. A truck driver, he obtained Aadhaar card in the name of Awakesh from Indore. Investigations revealed that Awakesh has five criminal cases registered against him. A case of attempt to murder and abduction at Indore, a case of truck loot in Assam and other cases were registered against him at West Bengal and Hyderabad.
