Meta-owned Instagram has announced the launch of a new video editing app named ‘Edits.’ This announcement came after the removal of ByteDance’s CapCut app from major app stores due to the TikTok ban in the US. So, Instagram decided to seize the opportunity to introduce an app to fill this market gap.

Adam Mosseri, Instagram’s head, confirmed that the app will be initially launched for OS followed by an Android version in the coming weeks.

The ‘Edits’ app aims to provide an easy-to-use video editing app with various innovative features. Users can export videos with watermarks. It can capture up to 10-minute clips in FHD or 2K resolution with support for up to 60FPS and HDR. The app also has seamless sharing to Instagram in 1080p.
