Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Indore Traffic Police are set to crack down on repeat traffic signal violators, as a new system will come into effect within 90 days. Under the updated rules, any driver who runs a traffic signal twice will trigger an automatic alert sent to police, including the vehicle’s exact location. This will allow authorities to seize the vehicle without delay. A team from Delhi is working on updating the city’s Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) to implement these changes. Currently, traffic cops manually track signal violations, often resulting in delays. The new system will provide real-time alerts, allowing officers to act swiftly against repeat offenders.
Moreover, the city is introducing an automated process for handling repeated violations. Once a vehicle accumulates five e-challans, the information will be directly sent to the RTO, triggering automatic cancellation of the driver’s licence and vehicle insurance. The updated system is expected to significantly reduce traffic violations and improve road safety. Police have urged all drivers to strictly adhere to traffic rules to avoid penalties.
Updated ITMS software to be installed at following 14 major intersections –
LIG, Rasoma, Scheme 78, Indira Statue Square – Laxmibai Pratima Square, Tata Steel Square, Palhar Nagar Square, -Ramchandra Nagar Square, Home Guard Square, Pipliyahana Square – Bombay Hospital Square, Bengali Square, Patrakar Square and Guitar Square
