Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The ambitious Ahilya Path project, covering approximately 3,000 acres of land, is awaiting final approval from the state government. Three months ago, the Indore Development Authority (IDA) proposed five major land development projects under this initiative, but the approval process was stalled, with no updates from Bhopal on clearance or modifications. With just two to three months left before the official deadline, there is mounting concern growing over the delay. These five projects, once approved, will pave the way for a 15 kilometre long and 75 metre wide Ahilya Path.

The project aims to enhance urban infrastructure, decongest major roads and improve connectivity in key commercial and residential areas. The primary hurdle in the project is land acquisition. Unlike previous projects where agricultural land was included, this time the authorities have opted for urban plots, targeting commercial hubs, colonies and investment zones. Many developers have already secured land, receiving preliminary approvals, but the final government clearance is still pending.

The five proposed Ahilya Path projects span across multiple locations: Ahilya Path-1 (157 hectares) – Nainod, Banganga and Janduji Hatti; Ahilya Path-2 (286 hectares) – Nainod, Janduji Hatti and nearby areas; Ahilya Path-3 (204 hectares) – Palakhedi and Bujurg Bangarda; Ahilya Path-4 (350 hectares) – Palakhedi, Bujurg Bangarda and adjacent region and Ahilya Path-5 (172 hectares) – Bhoslayakhedi, Limbodibangarda, Rewati and Bawadi. Collectively, these projects will utilize 1,170 hectares (approximately 3,000 acres) of land and require an estimated Rs 2,700 crore for development.

Now, with all paperwork complete, the IDA is waiting for the government’s final approval. The delay has sparked frustration among stakeholders, with real estate investors and residents closely monitoring developments. If the approval comes soon, it will be a significant step forward in Indore’s infrastructure development, but further delays could push back timelines and inflate costs. For now, all eyes were on Bhopal, waiting for the green light, said IDA officials.
