Pakistan has missiles that cover the entire length of India’s borders.
Missiles of India and Pakistan: India possesses some of the world’s most powerful and dangerous missiles, which outmatch even the largest range missiles in terms of speed and striking capability of many countries. In contrast, Pakistan has missiles that cover the entire length of India’s borders. Their striking ability cannot even be estimated, but they do not stand anywhere near Indian missiles in terms of range.
India’s five top missiles
1. Prithvi-3: It is a short-range ballistic missile that can strike from ground to ground. Its range is 750 kilometers. It weighs 5600 kilograms, has a length of 9 meters and a diameter of 100 centimeters. Seven types of warheads can be mounted on it: High explosive, penetration, cluster munitions, fragmentation, thermobaric, chemical weapons, and nuclear weapons. The weight of the warhead can range from 500 to 1000 kilograms. It operates on a two-stage solid fuel rocket.
2. Barak-8: It is a long-range surface-to-air missile of India. It is used by all the armed forces of India. It weighs 275 kilograms and is 4.5 meters long. It can carry a warhead weighing 60 kilograms. Its rocket flies without leaving smoke, making it invisible in the sky. Its range is 16 to 30 kilometers, moving towards the enemy at a speed of 2469 kilometers per hour.
3. K-4 Missile: It is an intermediate-range submarine-launched ballistic missile. It was inducted into the Indian Navy’s submarines just 4 years ago. Weighing 17 tons and 12 meters long, this missile is capable of attacking the enemy with nuclear weapons. Its operational range is 3500 kilometers. It can change its direction mid-flight to eliminate the enemy. Its speed has not been disclosed.
4. Agni-5: It is one of India’s most powerful missiles, an intercontinental ballistic missile. It weighs 50,000 to 56,000 kilograms. This missile is 17.5 meters long and can carry a weapon weighing 1,500 kilograms. It is equipped with a three-stage solid fuel rocket, which gives it incredible power to carry nuclear weapons. Its range is 5,500 kilometers, meaning it has China and Pakistan within its range.
5. BrahMos missiles: These missiles are considered the most dangerous and lethal not only in India but also in the world. It is a supersonic cruise missile. Various variants are deployed in the three branches of the Indian Armed Forces. Weighing 3000 kilograms, this missile is 8.4 meters long. It can carry conventional, semi-armour piercing, and nuclear warheads weighing between 200 and 300 kilograms. Different variants have ranges from 400 to 700 kilometers. The most dangerous aspect is that it can fly just 3 to 4 meters above land or sea, making it undetectable to enemy radars. Another point is that its speed is 4939 kilometers per hour, and it can change course mid-flight.
Pakistan’s five top missiles
1. Hatf-7/Babur: This is considered to be the fifth most powerful missile of Pakistan. It is a medium-range subsonic cruise missile. It weighs 1500 kilograms and is 6.2 meters long. It can be equipped with a conventional or nuclear warhead weighing 450 to 500 kilograms. There are seven variants of Babur missiles. The maximum range is 900 kilometers and its speed is 990 kilometers per hour. India’s Nirbhay missile is sufficient to counter it as it has a range of 1500 kilometers and a speed of 1110 kilometers per hour.
2. Hatf-4/Shaheen-1: Pakistan’s missile, which is at number four, has a range of 750 to 1000 kilometers. It weighs 10 thousand kilograms and is 12 meters long. It can carry a single warhead weighing 1000 kilograms. It is categorized as a short-range ballistic missile. Its last successful test was conducted on April 10, 2013, and there have been no tests since then.
3. Hatf-5/Ghauri: This missile, considered the third most dangerous in Pakistan, is a medium-range ballistic missile. It weighs 15,850 kilograms and is 15.90 meters long. Its operational range is up to 1500 kilometers. Its speed has not been disclosed. The last test was conducted on April 15, 2015.
4. Hatf-6/Shaheen-2: Another heavy missile of Pakistan. This missile weighs 25 thousand kilograms and has a range of 2500 kilometers. It can reach an altitude of 300 kilometers in the air. This 17.5-meter-long missile has a diameter of 1.4 meters. It can be equipped with conventional high-intensity explosives or nuclear weapons. No disclosure has been made regarding its speed.
5. Shaheen-3: It is said to be Pakistan’s most dangerous missile. This missile is reported to be 19.3 meters long with a range of 2750 kilometers. This means the whole of India could be within its reach, depending on which area of Pakistan it is launched from. This missile could even reach China. It operates on a multi-stage solid-fuel rocket. No disclosure has been made regarding its speed or striking capability. Its last test was conducted on April 9, 2022.
