New Delhi: On Saturday, October 18, Industry Minister P. Rajeev unveiled plans for Infopark Phase 3, a major expansion of Infopark Kochi, an IT hub in Kakkanad, Kerala, which is being developed as India’s first Artificial Intelligence-controlled city. Infopark Phase 3 is being developed as a city where all essential services will be run through AI. Rajeev said, “This will be an AI city where smart facilities and infrastructure will operate with the help of AI.” This city will have a special system called City Brain, which will be the centre of the city. It will collect information from sensors and cameras, analyse it, and ensure the smooth functioning of the city. This system will continue to improve over time.
What features will the AI city have?
This will be India’s first AI-controlled city, with plans to develop it into a world-class technology hub. It will be different from a normal IT park, as it will include IT facilities as well as residential and business areas. All operations will be conducted using AI. This city will include facilities such as homes, schools, hospitals, an amphitheatre, and multi-level parking. A digital platform will control all services, quickly detecting and resolving problems.
Features of the AI City
This city will be environmentally friendly and carbon negative. AI will be used to manage transport, waste, collect rainwater, and reuse water. Additionally, advanced surveillance systems will ensure security. AI technology will also help in long-term planning of the city, ensuring it is future-ready.
Jobs will be created
This project aims to attract global tech companies to Kerala. Many major companies may open their Global Capability Centers in this city. This project will involve an investment of approximately Rs 25,000 crore, creating 200,000 direct and 600,000 indirect employment opportunities. This is a major step for the economy of Kerala and the entire country.
