From engine speed to wheels… Indian Railways is preparing for a big change… toilet seats will also be replaced

The Indian Railways is moving towards a big change. The new engines will have modern facilities like waterless toilets and comfortable seats. The speed of trains will also increase and drivers will get a comfortable journey. These modern engines will be easy to repair. These modern engines with 12 wheels instead of 16 will be smaller but their capacity and power will not be less.

Indian Railways is looking to better passenger safety and comfort through such rule changes. The modification could decrease crowding, make ticket checking more efficient, and deter unauthorised traveling. It could also restrict the flexibility of general ticket buyers, especially for train switchers who switch trains frequently depending on availability.

On completion of 100 glorious years of electric engines, the railways has now moved towards making the engines more modern. These modern engines with 12 wheels instead of 16 will be smaller, but their capacity and power will not be less. Soon these engines will be installed in every passenger train. This will also increase the speed of trains, while the drivers will get a comfortable journey. Their repair will be easy. The repair test of these modern engines has been completed in the electric loco shed located at Fazalganj.

These engines are being manufactured in Chittaranjan and Varanasi Locomotive Works of Bengal. During the British rule, the first electric engine ran on the tracks in February 1925. This was Asia’s first electric train. After this, due to continuous innovation in the field of technology, the design of engines changed.

Period of validity of general tickets

Most passengers do not know that General Tickets have a validity period already. According to current railway regulations, a General Ticket is valid for three hours from the date of purchase. If a passenger fails to start their journey within these three hours, the ticket is no longer valid. The new system will be designed to enforce and strictly apply this regulation to prevent abuse.
