Amid further deteriorating ties between India and Bangladesh, Indian cricket equipment giant Sanspareils Greenlands (SG) has ended sponsorship contracts with several prominent Bangladeshi cricketers, including national team wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das. As per reports, the company has decided not to renew its bat sponsorship contracts with several Bangladeshi cricketers
The decision means players will no longer receive custom-made SG bats, branded gear, or associated financial benefits from the Indian company. Litton Das, recently appointed as Bangladesh’s captain for the upcoming 2026 T20 World Cup, is among the most high-profile cricketers impacted.
Other affected players include former Test captain Mominul Haque, Yasir Ali Rabbi, and Soumya Sarkar. Agents representing the players stated that SG had initially signalled intent to renew the contracts, but later withdrew verbally without providing an official explanation. Mominul Haque confirmed hearing about the termination of Litton’s deal but said he had not received formal communication regarding his own.
Litton Das has been maintaining a close relationship with SG for a long time, and the company built customised bat tailored to his playing style.
The sponsorship pullout follows a series of recent controversies that started with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) releasing Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from his ₹9.2 crore IPL contract, on the advice of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) citing security and diplomatic concerns.
After that, Bangladesh suspended broadcasts of the IPL 2026 season. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) also requested the International Cricket Council (ICC) to shift Bangladesh’s 2026 T20 World Cup matches from India to Sri Lanka over player safety fear, but the ICC rejected the request.
