Global sensation Shakira cancelled one of her shows in Peru on Sunday after she was rushed to the hospital due to an “abdominal issue”. She was hospitalised amidst her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran world tour.

Shakira took to her official Instagram handle to release a statement on the cancelled concert and also updated her fans about her health. “I am sorry to inform you all that last night I had to go to the ER for an abdominal issue and am currently hospitalised,” the statement read.

“The doctors whose care I am currently under have communicated that I am not in good enough condition to perform this evening. I am very sad not to be able to take the stage today. I’ve been looking forward to reuniting with my incredible fans here in Peru. I hope to be released and well tomorrow so I’m able to perform.

Shakira said that her “team and the promoters are already working on a new date to communicate to you,” while referring to the people who planned to attend her show.

“Thank you all for your understanding, I love you all,” she concluded her statement. While Shakira apologised to her fans, she did not divulge anymore details about the “abdominal issue”.

The concerning news about Shakira’s health comes days after she commenced her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour in Rio de Janeiro on February 11.

Shakira was all over the news a few days ago after she won the Best Latin Pop Album award for Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards on February 2. It marked her first album in seven years.

She dedicated the award to her “immigrant brothers and sisters in this country.” In her award-winning speech, she said, “You are loved. You are worth it, and I will always fight with you. And to all of those women who work really hard every day to provide for their families, you are the true ‘sheroes.’ So this is for you too!”
