Biharis living outside Bihar can now submit online form to get their name added in voter list or can send it to their family members in Bihar who will send it to BLO.

Bihar is expected to go into Assembly election in the month of November-December this year. And with the preparations for the run up to the elections has already started. The apex court on Thursday allowed the Election Commission of India to continue with its special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, calling it a “constitutional mandate”. It also asked the poll panel to consider Aadhaar, Voter ID and ration cards as valid documents during the exercise.
Can people from Bihar who live outside can get their names added to voter list?
In a very encouraging move and a step towards ensuring maximum participation in the elections, a provision is being made people from Bihar who live in Delhi, Mumbai and NCR and other places can also get their names added to the voter list without going to Bihar.
What is the process of getting the names added?
- There are multiple options available to do the same.
- If they want, they can fill their enumeration form and submit it online
- They can also fill this form and WhatsApp it to their family members and friends living in Bihar who can then forward it to the BLO of the area.
What if the form is not available?
If the form is not available, then they can also download their form through the Election Commission website and ECInet.
What are the supporting documents required?
- Try to attach the birth certificate required in support in the form.
- If for some reason someone does not have any certificate, he should fill the enumeration form and submit it online or offline. This will include his name in the draft publication of the voter list.
- Then those people will have time till September 30 to submit their certificates.
Officials said that the work of distributing enumeration forms has almost been completed. Now the distributed forms have started being collected. It is expected that more than 80 percent of the forms will be submitted by July 15.
