Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): After hospitals and clinics, Health Department has decided to take action against unregistered beauty parlours in the district that are treating skin, hair, and beauty-related diseases.
In this connection, the Chief Medical and Health Officer’s (CMHO) office has sought a list of Skin and Hair Beauty Parlours from the Municipal Corporation Jabalpur and other local bodies in the district.
Also the department has appealed to the residents of the district not to get treatment for skin, hair, and beauty-related problems from beauty parlours that do not have a registration certificate from the Health Department.
CMHO Dr Sanjay Mishra stated that it has come to the notice of the Health Department that many beauty parlours in the district are treating hair, skin diseases, and beauty problems without registration.
Such activities are not only illegal but also a serious threat to the health of the general public, he said. He informed the Madhya Pradesh government has taken this matter seriously.
Clear instructions have been given by Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav and Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla to take strict action against those involved in wrong medical practices.
According to Dr Mishra, in line with these instructions from the government, regular inspections of private service providers and institutions operating in the district are also being conducted.
During the inspection, the doctor’s degree and registration with the relevant Council of Medical System, registration under the Madhya Pradesh Upcharagriha Evam Rajopchar Adhiniyam (Madhya Pradesh Nursing Home and Clinical Establishments Act), compliance with the Bio-medical Waste Management Act, and the validity of the Gumasta licence are being checked.
Dr Mishra appealed to all citizens of the district to consult only registered and qualified dermatologists for the treatment of any skin-related disease.
He termed the use of medical lasers by skin and hair treatment beauty parlours as inappropriate, stating that no beauty parlour can use medical lasers for the treatment of skin diseases.
He urged citizens to consult only trained and registered dermatologists for the treatment of skin diseases.
Dr Mishra explained that even if a medical laser is required for the treatment of skin and beauty-related problems, it can only be used after a diagnosis made by specialist dermatologists.
He warned that the improper use of medical lasers can lead to skin burns or even skin cancer.
