Mira-Bhayandar: A head constable attached to the Bhayandar police station was brutally assaulted with a knife by two men when he tried to intervene into a fight between two groups on Friday evening.
After learning about the ongoing brawl in the Shiv Sena galli area of Bhayandar (west), on duty head constable- Kashinath Bhanuse reached the spot and tried to break up the fight.
However, he was attacked with a knife by a duo. Bhanuse who sustained deep injuries on his right hand and abdomen was rushed to the Wockhardt Hospital in Mira Road where his condition is said to be stable.
“While the accused who have been identfied as Dilip and Babu Nepali have been taken into custody, process to register a FIR againt them was underway.” said a senior police official.
DCP-(Zone I)-Prakash Gaikwad visited the hospital and met the constable who was injured while performing his duty.
