The Gurugram Administration has asked private companies and offices in the city to let employees work from home starting December 22, until further notice. This step has been taken because air pollution levels have remained very high. The advisory comes after the Commission for Air Quality Management enforced Stage IV rules under the Graded Response Action Plan to deal with worsening air quality in Delhi and the National Capital Region.

Pollution levels have stayed dangerously high for several days, prompting authorities to take stricter action to cut emissions and stop the situation from getting worse.

Earlier, on December 13, the commission had ordered offices to function with only 50 per cent staff present, while the rest were told to work from home.

Following these instructions, Gurugram Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar advised private offices to fully support work-from-home arrangements. He also directed all state government offices to follow staggered working hours to reduce traffic on roads and limit vehicle pollution.

Apart from the advisory for private offices, the district administration has also changed office timings for government departments in Gurugram as part of the same pollution-control measures.

Govt office timings changed in Haryana

As per the revised plan, state government offices in Gurugram will now function from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm during this period.

Offices run by the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram, Municipal Corporation of Manesar, Sohna Municipal Council, Pataudi Mandi Municipal Council, and Farrukhnagar Municipal Committee will work from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

These office timings will continue for as long as GRAP Stage IV remains in effect.

Officials said that cooperation between government offices, private companies, and employees is very important to make these pollution-control steps work properly and to help improve air quality in Gurugram and across the National Capital Region.
