It seems Google is serious about pushing Gemini AI to all the platforms. At its latest Android Show: I/O Edition, Google announced that Gemini, its most advanced AI model yet, is expanding beyond smartphones and Chrome. Soon, it will be powering experiences on Wear OS, Android Auto, Google TV, and even upcoming XR headsets and earbuds.
While this sounds like just another product update, it is actually a big push. The company wants to become the brain of everything we use and make daily interactions more natural, helpful, and personalized.
All the devices, including watches, cars, and TVs, already come with Google Assistant. But with Gemini, Google is promising a more intelligent upgrade. The company is not replacing Assistant entirely (yet), but it is clear that Gemini is the future. Think of it as Google Assistant 2.0, but with a better memory, deeper understanding, and more natural conversations.
For example, with Gemini on your smartwatch, you no longer need to be super specific with voice commands. Just say something like, “I’m using locker 43 today,” and the AI will know to create a reminder. That kind of understanding makes interactions smoother and less robotic.
Gemini could be a game-changer in Android Auto. Voice assistants while driving are already helpful, and several cars already offer it. But current experience with Voice assistants isn’t good. Capabilities are limited, and it is frustrating if they misinterpret commands. Gemini aims to fix that. It will allow you to speak casually and still get things done—whether that’s replying to messages, translating texts into 40+ languages, or sending a message in Spanish without needing to know Spanish yourself.
This could make driving safer and more productive, as drivers can keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road without worrying about finding the right command.
Gemini is also being baked into Google’s upcoming XR (extended reality) platform, which is expected to launch later this year with Samsung’s new headset. Imagine planning a vacation by simply talking to the AI and getting visual suggestions, maps, and tips floating around you. It sounds futuristic, but it is not far off.
Then there’s Google TV. With Gemini, recommendations could get a lot smarter, especially for children. Age-appropriate content suggestions and even real-time answers to kids’ questions about what they are watching could be incredibly useful for families.
Even earbuds are getting smarter. Google says Gemini will soon be available in upcoming models from Sony and Samsung. While details are still limited, we can guess that the AI will help improve voice recognition and possibly enable advanced features like real-time translation, smart replies, or hands-free control that feels more human than mechanical.
Google’s move to bring Gemini across so many devices is not just a software update. It wants to make every device intelligent. However, maintaining privacy and battery life while running such a powerful model will be a challenge. if done right, Gemini could make Google’s ecosystem far more useful and user-friendly than anything we have seen before
